She's a winner folks! :)

A couple of weeks ago we went to Pumpkin Hill Pumpkin patch with our friends the Jackson's. After a fun hayride and finding the perfect pumpkins we were directed toward a giant pumpkin that could be won with the right guess of the weight. Munchkin REALLY wanted to guess. So, for the low low price of $1 she got 3 guesses. Tonight I got a call from the owner asking for her. It would have weirded me out a little since it was a man calling but he was calling from Pumpkin Hill so I guessed she had won. I gave her the phone and told her to say hello. All of a sudden she put her hand over her mouth and her eyes got as big a saucers and she didn't say a word. I prompted her to say thank you and took the phone back. She is so excited and so are we! I can't wait for Bobby and the kids to pick up the pumpkin so I can get some pictures of it!

That's what I'm talking about

My hubby is jumping in as a guest blogger today:

Fall break has given Little Man a chance to brush up on his Wii Tennis skills. While playing with me one afternoon, we scored a point, and I said "That's what I'm talking about!" and we exchanged high fives and fist bumps. This continued for multiple rounds... Then this morning, he was playing by himself vs. the computer. He scored a point, and turned around to me and said,

"Is that what you're talking about?"

We are waiting patiently for the heat guy to come to the house. Munchkin slept with me last night in my bed that had 10 blankets piled on it. Little Man opted for his own Star Wars comforter, race car blanket and footies.
We were pretty cold 2 nights ago but last night Tennessee had a frost advisory.
We are headed out to sit in front of the fireplace at Panera while we wait for the heat guy. Pray we don't freeze on the way to our car! :)

In the meantime, here is a cute picture of our dog not long after we got her and she was still in the cute tiny puppy phase.

My hand looks like a sharks fin!

Did you ever see that awesome movie Deep Blue Sea? We have some friends that used to say the line "My hand looks like a sharks fin" from the L.L. Cool J song "Deepest Blue" all.the.time. It never failed to get a laugh. That is what came to mind tonight as I was checking out my little guys teeth.

He has a big tooth coming in behind one of his baby teeth. A favorite game on the kindergarten playground is Shark. One kid is the shark and chases the other kids. From what I can gather I think it is like tag and the first person tagged is then the shark. Little Man LOVES to be the shark!

We teased him a little bit about becoming a shark from playing the game on the playground to which he responded "rraaaaarrrrrrrr"!!!!! My hubby then told him next time he should play millionaire.

*bahaha! I just looked up the lyrics to the song and it is actually My "hat" looks like a sharks fin....

{TWD} Allspice Crumb Muffins

This weeks recipe was chosen by Kayte at Grandmas Kitchen Table. Make sure to visit her site for the recipe. Thanks Kayte for this easy recipe this week. We liked it pretty well at our house but I made a few boo boos. Munchkin mixed the topping together so instead of crumbs it was kind of a thick coating. Also, I didn't let the butter cool enough so when I added the milk it got chunky. I think that ended up making them kind of dry. Bobby thought blueberries would be really good in these. I will say the topping was the best part! :) I will likely make these again being a little more careful with the butter. {TWD} Split Level Pudding

Thanks to Garrett at Flavor of Vanilla for this weeks tasty pick. I have never made pudding from scratch before so I was a little nervous. I had two sweet kiddos wanting to help which was good since there were 2 levels to make.

Little Man helped with level one. mmmm Chocolate Ganache. I heated the milk in the microwave and let him poor it over the Ghirardelli chocolate chips. We watched it for 30 seconds and then he stirred with all of his might. He helped me count out the 6 custard cups and helped me count as I spooned the ganache into each cup.

Munchkin came in and helped me with the more difficult layer..you know, since she is older and all. She is great at reading directions and helped me keep my place. I did make the heinous mistake of trying to make this in the blender because I was feeling lazy and didn't want to dig my food processor out. Of course this cause more dishes when I realized the food processor was supposed to be running while we poured the hot milk in. Have you ever tried to do that in a blender? Not pretty. I made the cinnamon version for the top layer because I thought maybe, just maybe I could get the hubs to try a bite.

As an aside, when this recipe came up I thought to myself "self, how are you going to get your husband to eat this when you know his reaction will be.."pudding? ugh!"...maybe you can make the cinnamon kind so he will eat it."

Munchkin and I finished the top layer and poured in the custard cups on top of the ganache. She was super excited because in the directions it says that the chocolate layer will be a surprise if it doesn't come to the top. She was so happy that the chocolate layer didn't show and that it would be a surprise for everyone. We covered the cups with plastic wrap and tucked them away in the fridge for later. After about 3 hours I took one out to check it and the top layer was kind of runny. I asked my hubby if he would like to try some and his reaction was "Pudding, ugh!" My mom and I each unwrapped one and decided they needed to go back in the fridge.

Yesterday morning guess what my kids had for breakfast. If you guessed split level pudding you would be correct! :) They loved it. I am yet to try it as we were at a birthday party last night and the picture I took of it is the worst one yet for a post. So. I will leave you with pictures of my cute kids eating the split level pudding. Ok, I changed my mind. Here is a horrible picture of the pudding. If it offends please avert your eyes....

Pain in the you know where!

The ol backside is still hurting so I thought I really should go to the doctor. I took my whole laundry list of ailments with me to the appointment hoping the Dr wouldn't be too annoyed. This is a new place to me so I asked if they were pretty on time. Of course they said yes. I got there 15 minutes before my appointment so I could fill out all of the required forms and then I waited, and waited, and waited. 15 minutes after my appointment time I was finally asked to go in a face the dreaded scale. Ummm, they didn't let me take my shoes or my sweater off! Oh the horror!

I finally was put in a room so I could wait some more. So much for Hippa. The walls were paper thin and I could hear the woman's diagnosis in the next room. Finally an hour after I was supposed to be seen the doctor came in. She was super perky and very nice. I told her I had a laundry list and when I was done she said it wasn't so bad..there are people that come in with much worse lists than mine. She looked at my wrist and said if it swelled up again she would drain it and I have a ganglion cyst. I need to get a brace for Carpal Tunnel because it is not very bad yet. She thought my symptoms sounded like I might be hypoglycemic so she had me get blood drawn and I had to have an X-ray for the tailbone.

Once I left her office I sat and waited awhile longer for the girl doing her homework to take a break so she could take my blood. Then the guy that does X-rays called me in. He took the X-rays and they came out too light so he took them again. They were still too light so they referred me to another place that does X-rays that I couldn't go to today because I had already been away from work for 2 hours and had to get back.

The Dr prescribed some medicine and sent me on my way. I guess I will hear back next week sometime and I will go Monday to get another X-ray. Ugh...what a pain. At least the Dr was nice.

Socks - Here is one for Crazy

Yesterday I got a text from my hubby that said "Something I was NOT expecting in the mail today was a box from Hobby Lobby. With a pair of socks inside."

He is in a football pick thingy with them (I am the girl who picks a team because their jersey is a pretty color) and tied for 18th place a few weeks ago. I wonder if the person he tied with also got these cool socks.

I told him he has to wear them with shorts and a bucket hat at the airfield when he goes to fly his planes again. :)

I will say they are pretty awesome! Not only do they say Pilot on them they are also nice and squishy, comfy on the inside....I am kind of jealous! I love a good pair of comfy socks. I wonder what the other winners got...maybe he will win again and get another random cool prize. :)
