We live

in Mayberry!
The little neighborhood we live in is such a neat little community. It is an historic village area and last Saturday we had the annual home tour. Munchkin had her first ever lemonade stand. We charged $.25 for lemonade and $.50 for cookies. She made $30 in an hour and a half. I was so proud of her because she was such a little sales person. She would say "Would you like some lemonade or cookies?" The they would say "Well, can you keep me a special cup I don't want to spill in the house." We were set up at our neighbors house that was on the tour. Many people gave her tips of a quarter, one even gave her a dollar. Our neighbor has us send some pictures as it was just such a picture of Mayberry.
Today we went to a yard sale in the neighborhood and bought Little Man a race car bed for $10! That was a find for sure since those go for $175-$250. They are even expensive on consignment! While we were there we found out that there was going to be a little parade on the main street. So, we took the kids and Kelsey (the dog) out to the parade of pickup trucks covered in streamers and softball players. The parade ended at the village field where there was a softball jamboree. What fun!
Now we are home again waiting for a guitar lesson to be over and we will head out again to Target. I have to get a pair of tongs. My other ones rusted to the point that I could not use them anymore. I do have some Chefs Tongs from Pampered Chef but I like those better for pork chops than bacon.
I love living in this community. We know our neighbors. I would love to have bigger closets but I love the neighbors. We know when birthdays are, we have a ton of kids that trick or treat here, there are Easter egg hunts and more young couples with kids are moving in. Our Sunday School class is trying out these community groups (grow groups) so we can really live life together and I am excited about those but I think we have that aspect of community here in our neighborhood too. Wouldn't it be nice if all neighborhoods were like this?

Presents
It is so strange to me that I get presents because I teach 4 year olds. I guess that means I need to get my rear in gear and get gifts for Munchkin and Little man's teachers. I don't even teach at a school. I teach 4 year olds in Cubbies at church. At Christmas one family gave me a bucket with popcorn, hot chocolate, and Hershey kisses. Another family gave me a scarf with matching gloved from Old Navy. Tonight was the last night of cubbies for the summer. You have no idea how glad I am. The kids in my class were great but I have several months of not having to drive to church twice on Wednesday. We had a movie and popcorn "slumber party" in the little tree house at our church. The kids were WILD!!! There were a few that sat still and watched the movie but the other 45 or so ran all over the room like banshees (Munchkin included). There were 7 teachers and we all pretty much sat back and watched. We were crowd control. 8 pm did not come soon enough. Along with it though came 2 more gifts! A Buttercream Yankee candle and a book called "Faith Builders for Women". I did not expect anything but it was such a sweet gesture from the moms that really understood we had worked hard this year with their kiddos. :0)
Now, what to get for the other teachers....

Things...
you do not want to hear while shopping with your almost 4 year old daughter. "I like that one mommy you look like Tarzan!"

Mermaids
Today was Munchkins very first swimming lesson. She has been telling me she is going to learn how to swim like a mermaid. I couldn't figure out where she learned about mermaids but then I remembered Little Bear and The Backyardigans both have episodes with mermaids.
She seemed pretty apprehensive before we headed in by the pool but was also excited. There was one other little boy in her class today and they got to take turns going out with the instructor. After the first spin around the pool the instructor had Munchkin dunk her head under the water. I got some pretty good video of it. She did really well but was afraid of not being able to hold her breath without holding her nose. One of the things she is really excited about is being able to go down the water slide.
After the lesson we ran to the locker room to rinse off and change into street clothes. I had a sneaking suspicion that we were in the mens locker room and that was confirmed by the "Men's Locker Room, Please keep this door closed" sign on the door we did not enter through! For next time we need to remember panties so she doesn't have to go commando on the way home and a towel so she doesn't have to use the one that was in the car to clean up chicken broth from supper swap. Yeah, it was the first lesson for all of us! I love to swim and I hope that she will love it too.

Rain Rain...
go away, the marching band wants to play....
We are supposed to go to the strawberry patch today but it is raining so indoor playground at the mall here we come!
Speaking of rain rain go away. Munchkin was singing that in the car on the way home from church on Wednesday and Little Man sang along with her. Very cute! He loves to copy her every chance he gets. She likes it so far but we will see how that goes in the near future.
Kelsey does not like the rain.. I have already stood outside with her in it several times so she can go pee. She goes and then runs right back up the stairs.

So, did I mention....
LITTLE MAN IS WALKING!!!!!!! He is everywhere!! I sat on the playground talking to some other moms yesterday after my MOPS steering meeting and felt like crying tears of joy. He was walking all over the playground and even climbed the stairs and slid down the slide by himself. Munchkin was there behind him making sure he didn't fall being an amazing big sister. He is meeting his goals faster than his Physical Therapist can set them at Easter Seals. With the ACC we just do not know what to expect so for him to be meeting his goals is really exciting for us!
